How to Change Ink Cartridges on a Canon MP450 Printer

Change the ink cartridge on your Canon MP450 printer.

The Canon Pixma MP450 is an all-in-one printer capable of printing, scanning and copying. On occasion, the printer will need new ink cartridges. When you need to replace a cartridge, you will notice either an alert when you attempt to print a document or lighter-than-usual prints. The cartridge replacement process takes about five minutes.

Instructions

1. Turn on the printer. Open the scanner lid. The ink cartridge compartment will slide to the replacement position.

2. Press down on the ink cartridge that you want to change. The color ink cartridge is on the right and the black ink cartridge is on the left. Slide the cartridge out of the compartment.

3. Take the new ink cartridge out of the package. Carefully remove the orange tape from the new cartridge in the direction of the arrow . Do not touch the metal pieces on the new cartridge.

4. Slide the new ink cartridge into the compartment with the front end slightly higher than the back end. Push up on the back end so it is parallel once inside of the compartment. This will lock it into place.

5. Close the lid. Wait for the ink to charge, which takes about two minutes.
