How to Plan a Stagette & Bridal Shower
A bridal shower provides a bride-to-be with gifts, while a stagette--more commonly known as a bachelorette--is a small party held for her shortly before the wedding. When you plan a bridal shower or a stagette, you will need to know exactly how much you can spend on the event, and plan both well ahead of time to give the guests plenty of advance notice. Typically, the maid of honor organizes both of these events, but anyone can plan the fun evening. With careful planning, you can create two memorable pre-wedding celebrations for the bride.
Instructions

Plan a Bridal Shower
-
1
Select a date for the bridal shower. The shower typically will take place at least four to six weeks before the wedding date. If the bride knows about the bridal shower, consult with her to figure out a date. Otherwise, consult with her family to select a date to surprise her.
-
2
Choose a location for the shower. Bridal showers can take place at the home of the bride or maid-of-honor, but you can also host the shower at a restaurant, country club or a relative's home.
-
-
3
Decide on a theme for the bridal shower party. Some common themes include a lingerie party, a tea party or a kitchen pantry party.
-
4
Send out the invitations. Include all the important information on the invites such as the date, time and location. Let the guests know what to wear, bring and the itinerary for the night so that they can plan accordingly.
-
5
Purchase decorations for the bridal shower. After you select a theme, you will need decorations to compliment the party. Purchase balloons, streamers, tablecloths, centerpieces, pictures and banners that will make the atmosphere feel welcoming and fun.
-
6
Provide food for the party. Choose foods that will also compliment your theme. You may want to hire a caterer for the party, or you can provide simple foods like sandwiches, a taco bar or kabobs for the guests.
-
7
Provide refreshments for the party. You will want to have a wide variety of drinks available such as water, juice, soda and, depending on the time of day and venue, alcoholic beverages, so that there is something for everyone.
-
8
Entertain your guests. Play games at the bridal shower to keep the guests entertained. Select fun games such as bridal shower bingo or an icebreaker game such as truth or dare to get everyone involved. While not required, you may also want to provide music for the party with either a disc jockey or your own music player with a customized play list to entertain your guests.
-
9
Designate an area for the gifts. The bride will have plenty of gifts at her bridal shower. You will need to set up a table for the guests to place their gifts so that they do not scatter them around the party. Set aside time at the party for her to open her gifts.
Plan a Stagette Party
-
10
Select a date for the stagette party, choosing a weekend date that the bride and guests can work easily into their schedules.
-
11
Decide on a venue for the stagette party, choosing a location that will accommodate the number of guests that will be attending. You can select a public venue such as a bar or choose a private location such as the maid-of-honor's house. If necessary, make reservations at least three to four weeks ahead of time to guarantee that you will have the space that you need.
-
12
Invite guests four to six weeks before the event, either by mail or evite. Include important information on the invitation such as the time, date and location.
-
13
Provide entertainment for the bride and the guests. You can book a male stripper for the party, provide a dance floor with a disc jockey or rent a karaoke machine. You will need to book the entertainment in advance around the time that you book the venue.
-
14
Provide food and beverage options. If you are throwing the party at a restaurant, this will not be a major issue for the guests. If you plan to throw the bachelorette party at your home, you will need to provide both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks and appetizers to keep your guests happy.
