Microsoft Excel allows you to customize worksheets to suit your needs. One way to customize is with Excel macros. Excel macros are short pieces of executable code that you can run within a worksheet to replace repetitive or mundane tasks. You don't even need to know a programming language to use Excel macros: Excel's Record Macro feature can record your keystrokes and mouse clicks and write the code for you. There are several Excel online macro tutorials that can help you get started.

The guide walks you through running macros, creating macros, and running macros using toolbar buttons and shortcut keys. The guide offers plenty of examples and an advanced section on how to edit macro code. The instructions for creating and running the macros are applicable to Excel 2003, but the concepts are the same for Excel 2007.
