Instructions

    • 1

Cut an 8 1/2-by-11-inch sheet of textured cream-colored cardstock in half along the width. This will give you two 5 1/2-by-8 1/2-inch cards which, when folded, will fit inside standard A-2 envelopes.

    • 2

Cut a rectangle, three inches by four inches, from the colored cardstock. Use a pair of pinking shears for a decorative edging.

    • 3

Position and glue the rectangle over the front of the card.

    • 4

Select golden embellishments such as butterflies or flowers, whatever goes with your theme. Center them over the rectangle on the front of the card. Choose embellishments that are thin. If you choose to use thicker embellishments ask your local postal worker to hand-cancel the card rather than machine process it.

    • 5

Dab white glue on the front of the card where you want to place the embellishments. Position the decorations on the glue.

    • 6

Allow the glue to dry before finishing the invitation.

    • 7

Write or type the event information for the inside the card. Specifics such as date, time, location and name of the event should go on one piece of paper. Use an easy to read font or print the information neatly.

    • 8

Print and trim the information using the pinking shears so that it fits on the left inside of the invitation.

    • 9

Write or type information about the art or artist on another piece of paper. Make this side descriptive and inviting so that guests will want to come. An example might be, "Come see the Contemporary Works of Mr. Jeremy Smith. Completely made from marble, Mr. Smith's exhibit contains 36 new pieces."

    • 10

Print and trim the information using the pinking shears so that it fits on the right side of the page.

    • 11

Position the pages appropriately and then dab glue on the page. Press the paper down onto the cardstock. Allow the glue to dry before placing the invitations in the envelopes.
