How to Troubleshoot an Epson Stylus Photo 1280 Printer

Things You'll Need
- Computer with Internet access
- Paper for printing
- Printer cable
- Cotton swabs
- Warm water

Turn on the printer and make sure there are no error lights. If any error lights are flashing, remove the power cord, allow the printer to sit for two to three minutes, then plug in the printer again.

Remove the printer cable from the back of the computer and the back of the Epson Stylus 1280. Firmly reseat those cables, making sure they snap into place.

Lift the cover of the Epson Stylus 1280 and lift the cover on the print cartridges. Carefully remove the print cartridges and set them aside.

Check the print cartridges for ink residue and paper dust. An accumulation of debris can cause problems with print quality.

Dip a cotton swab in some warm water and carefully clean all debris from the print cartridges. Replace the print cartridges and flip down the cover. Close the printer cover and send a test page to the printer.
