    Things You'll Need

    • Pain medication
    • Ginger
    • Peppermint
    • Tomato juice
    • Vitamin C
      • 1

Take pain relievers. Reach for a bottle of ibuprofen or aspirin to calm a throbbing headache associated with heavy drinking. Use as directed. Taken improperly, NSAIDs can irritate the stomach lining and cause ulcers, GI bleeding and an upset stomach.

      • 2

Soothe your stomach with herbal remedies. Ginger, peppermint and herbal teas are effective remedies for an upset stomach or nausea. Drink ginger or peppermint tea, or take ginger capsules (about 500 mg) to stop discomfort.

      • 3

Take a walk. Remove toxins from your body to get rid of a hangover. While you probably won't have the energy to participate in aerobic activities, consider a brisk walk to get your blood circulating and expel toxins from alcohol.

      • 4

Drink a glass of tomato juice. Help your body metabolize or break down alcohol faster by consuming a glass of tomato juice. The fructose in this juice speeds metabolism.

      • 5

Increase water intake. Drinking water re-hydrates your body and stimulates urination, which removes toxins from your body and helps remedy a hangover more quickly.

      • 6

Take vitamin C supplements (1,000 mg) to help increase metabolism and detox your liver.
