How to Change a White Brand Riding Lawn Mower Blade
Twice a mowing season you'll need to change the blades on your White riding mower. You'll know when the time has come because grassy areas you've been over with the mower will have an uneven or frayed look, which means the blades have become dull. Changing White blades doesn't require any real technical expertise. The routine task should take only a few minutes once you have the mower deck detached from your lawn tractor. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Put on work gloves to protect your hands when working around mower blades. Remove the mower deck. Fold out the mower deck stand atop the mower deck to provide access to the blades underneath.
-
2
Wrap the blade to be removed with a rag so the sharp surfaces cannot be touched while detaching the blade. Place a 2-by-4 block of wood between the blade and the deck housing to prevent the blade from rotating while you remove it.

3
Unscrew the hex nut holding the blade in place with a 1 1/8-inch socket wrench. Slide the blade off the spindle.
-
4
Install a replacement White blade on the spindle, positioning the blade's cutting edge upward and facing the same direction in which the blade rotates. Tighten with the socket wrench in a clockwise motion.
-
5
Use a torque wrench to tighten the hex nut to a measurement of 100 ft-lbs. Repeat the same process on the mower's second blade. Remove block of wood and reattach the mower deck to the White lawn tractor once new blades have been installed.

Tips & Warnings
Use a putty knife to remove built-up grass debris from the mower deck while servicing the blades. That will ensure build-up doesn't interfere with the blades' rotation.
