How to Change an Armitron Durasteel Watch Battery

Armitron's Durasteel sport watches offer features like analog and digital time displays, as well as a stainless steel, water-resistant watch case. The factory installed battery in your Armitron Durasteel wrist watch can last for several years before it becomes necessary to replace it. Once the battery in your Armitron Durasteel finally dies, you can save time and money by changing the battery yourself. Changing the battery in your Armitron Durasteel sports watch is a simple repair that requires very little special tools and takes just minutes.

Things You'll Need

• Watch case opening tool
• Replacement watch battery
• Small plastic tweezers

Instructions

1. Prepare a clean, flat surface where you can complete the battery replacement for your Armitron Durasteel watch. Select a location that is well lit by natural or artificial lighting so that you will have no trouble seeing the watch's small components. Spread a microfiber optical cloth over the flat surface to protect your watch face from scratches and scuffs.

2. Place your Armitron Durasteel face down on the optical cloth. Note the positioning of the notches on the back of the watch case. Adjust a three-tipped watch case opening tool so that the tips are aligned with the notches on the watch case.

3. Fit the tips of the watch case opening tool into the notches on the back of your Armitron Durasteel watch case. Turn the knob at the bottom of the watch case tool to tighten the tool's grip on the watch case. Use the watch case opening tool to apply moderate pressure to the back of the watch Twist the tool clockwise to free the watch's back cover.

4. Move the battery strap aside so that you can access your watch's battery compartment. Pry the spent battery out of your Armitron Durasteel watch using a pair of small plastic tweezers. Recycle or discard the old watch battery. Insert the replacement watch battery into the battery compartment and replace the battery strap.

5. Reposition the watch cover over the exposed back of your Armitron Durasteel watch. Pinch the watch case and cover together between your fingers until you hear them snap together.

Tips & Warnings

• A pair of needle-nose jewelry pliers can also be used to open your Armitron watch case. Insert the tips of the pliers into two of the notches on the back of the watch and apply pressure while twisting the tool clockwise.

• Armitron recommends that watch owners have their watch batteries replaced by professional jewelers at their authorized service centers. Replacing the battery without professional assistance may void the warranty on your Armitron Durasteel. Contact Armitron customer support for more information.
