How to Auto-Clear Your Search History When Quitting IE

The ability to have Internet Explorer (IE) clear your browsing history automatically when you exit the program is important if you are concerned about maintaining your privacy. This is especially true since IE stores your form data, history, temporary Internet files and cookies, as well as your InPrivate filtering data. Fortunately, the program provides you with an option to auto-clear this data when you exit the application. The "Delete browsing history on exit" option accomplishes this task perfectly.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" and then select "Internet Options."

    • 2

Select the "General" tab, if not selected already, and then check the "Delete browsing history on exit" check box.

    • 3

Click "Apply" and then choose the "OK" button.

    • 4

Select "Internet Options" from the "Tool" menu and then click on the "Advanced" tab.

    • 5

Scroll to the "Security" section, check the "Empty temporary Internet files folder when the browser is closed" check box, click "Apply" and then select "OK."
