How to Remove the Hard Drive Password on a Dell 4100 Laptop
Dell laptops allow users to create a password not just for the operating system, but for the laptop itself. Users are required to enter the password before the laptop can finish the booting process and load the operating system. If you wish to remove this laptop password, you can do so by accessing the BIOS menu while booting the computer.

Turn your computer on. Enter your original password to boot your computer, then begin tapping the "F2" key as the computer keeps booting. This should take you to the BIOS menu.

Select the "Password" option in your BIOS menu. You will be asked to enter your original password, along with a new password.

Enter your original password in the first text box, but leave the next two text boxes blank. Press the "Esc" key to exit the menu, and choose to save your changes. This should remove the password from your laptop.
