Being an eco-conscious fashionista means that you take pride in recycling used items to become wearable works of art. You can construct a variety of items from everyday discarded materials. From duct tape and blown out tires to old license plates, eco-fashion is smart, interesting and fun with which to experiment. Following directions to make a license plate purse gives you the ability to show off a creative and attractive accessory with some of your favorite outfits.
Things You'll Need
- 2 license plates
- 2 squares of fabric (measuring 20 by 20 inches each)
- Fabric glue
- Duct tape rolls
Instructions

1
Spread out both squares of fabric. Canvas proves to be a strong fabric choice for constructing a license plate purse. Make sure both squares are free of any wrinkles or creases.
-
2
Spread a thin layer of extra strength fabric glue to the entire back surface of one of the license plates. Make sure it is thoroughly covered with the glue.
-
-
3
Place the glued side of the license plate down firmly on the very center of one of the fabric squares. Press down for about 2 minutes until it sets. Let it dry for 10 minutes. Repeat Step 2 and this step with the other license plate and square of fabric.
-
4
Turn one of the fabric squares over so that the license plate that is glued to it is face down. Place the square in this position on top of the other square. The license plate on the lower square will face upward, making the two plates touch when the squares are together.
-
5
Glue the side and bottom edges of the fabric squares together. Don't glue the top edge. Let the squares dry for another 20 minutes.
-
6
Turn the glued pouch inside out. This will cause the license plates to be on the outside of the pouch. Each plate will be on the opposite side of the bag.
-
7
Fill in all of the exposed fabric parts of the bag with two layers of duct tape. Make sure to spread the duct tape a bit around the edges of the license plates to frame them. The finished product is a license plate purse that not only goes with jeans and a top, but a little black dress as well.
