How to Make Covers for the Backs of Wood Chairs
Plain wooden chairs can look unattractive or boring. To dress up the back of a chair and to unify different styles of chairs for an event, add a simple sewn chair-back cover with a tie-back bow. This simple half slipcover drapes from the front of the seat back to the rear and down to the floor. Tie the slipcover in place using a decorative bow and your wood chair will look fresh and ready to entertain. When the party is over, you can throw your slipcovers in the laundry and have them ready to go for the next event. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the seat back from the corner next to the seat cushion on the front of the seat back, up and over the top and down to the floor. Add 2 1/2 inches. Measure the width of your seat back and add 2 inches.

Select a solid color fabric that has been pre-laundered. The fabric should be neutral, stain-resistant and it should drape well. Cut your fabric according to the dimensions above. 4
Cut organza or any other non-fraying fabric 6 inches wide by 5 feet long. Thread the organza through the pocket and pull it through until it is even on both sides.

5
Drape the half slipcover over the back of the chair with the pocket to the front bottom corner. Tuck the top corners down. Pull the back fabric forward evenly. Pull the front fabric over the back. Tie your organza behind the chair in a nice bow.
