Cleaning Stains From Nylon Carpet
Nylon carpet is a popular flooring choice for its durability and ease of cleaning. Daily use of your nylon carpet will leave it dirty and stained. A stained carpet will make the whole room look dull and dingy. Fortunately, there are some home remedies that can remove a variety of stains from your nylon carpet without the use of harsh and expensive chemicals. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Water-displacing spray
- 1 tbsp. mild dishwashing liquid
- Sponges
- Cloths
- Bucket
- 1 tbsp. ammonia
- Spray bottles
- Paper towels
- Heavy object
- Beer
- Distilled white vinegar
- 1 tsp. borax
- Vacuum
Instructions

Remove Ink Stains with Water-Displacing Spray

Spray water-displacing spray directly onto the ink stain.

Allow the spray to remain in the carpet for five minutes.

Create a solution of 1 qt. of warm water and 1 tbsp. of dishwashing liquid in a bucket. Saturate a sponge in the solution and wring it out lightly.

Blot the ink stain with the sponge. Continue blotting until the ink stain is no longer visible.

Repeat the process if needed.
Remove Blood and Chocolate Stains with Ammonia

Combine 1 cup of water and 1 tbsp. of ammonia in a clean spray bottle. Swish the bottle lightly to mix the contents thoroughly.

Spray the stain liberally with the mixture.

Blot--do not rub--the carpet with paper towels to remove the excess liquid.

Fold several paper towels in half. Lay the towels directly on the stain. Place a heavy object--such as a book--on top of the paper towels. Allow the carpet to dry in this manner overnight.

Remove the heavy object and towels. There is no need to rinse the cleaning solution from the carpet.
Remove Coffee and Tea Stains with Beer

Pour a few drops of beer on the stain.

Rub the beer into the fibers of the nylon carpet using a clean cloth. Add more beer until the area is lightly saturated.

Continue rubbing the carpet gently--adding more beer if needed--until the stain is no longer visible.
Carpet Stain Remover Spray

Fill a clean spray bottle with one part distilled white vinegar and five parts water. Swish the bottle around to mix the contents.

Apply the vinegar-water mixture to the stain. Allow to sit for several minutes.

Blot the carpet stain with a dry cloth.

Fill a second clean spray bottle with one part ammonia and five parts water.

Apply the ammonia-water mixture to the stain. Allow to sit for several minutes.

Blot the carpet stain with a clean, dry cloth.

Repeat the process until the stain is gone.
General Carpet Stain Removal

Wet the carpet stain with a damp cloth. The area should be completely saturated with cool water but not soggy.

Apply 1 tsp. of borax to the stain. Rub the borax into the stain with a clean cloth.

Let the area dry completely. This may take several hours.

Vacuum the area to remove the borax residue. Alternatively, blot the area with a mixture of equal parts cool, soapy water and white vinegar.

Repeat the process until the stain is no longer visible.

Tips & Warnings
Test the stain removal method on an inconspicuous area of the nylon carpet. If damage or discoloration occur, discontinue use.
