Instructions

  1. Remove Ink Stains with Water-Displacing Spray

    • 1

Spray water-displacing spray directly onto the ink stain.

    • 2

Allow the spray to remain in the carpet for five minutes.

    • 3

Create a solution of 1 qt. of warm water and 1 tbsp. of dishwashing liquid in a bucket. Saturate a sponge in the solution and wring it out lightly.

    • 4

Blot the ink stain with the sponge. Continue blotting until the ink stain is no longer visible.

    • 5

      Repeat the process if needed.

Remove Blood and Chocolate Stains with Ammonia

    • 6

Combine 1 cup of water and 1 tbsp. of ammonia in a clean spray bottle. Swish the bottle lightly to mix the contents thoroughly.

    • 7

Spray the stain liberally with the mixture.

    • 8

Blot--do not rub--the carpet with paper towels to remove the excess liquid.

    • 9

Fold several paper towels in half. Lay the towels directly on the stain. Place a heavy object--such as a book--on top of the paper towels. Allow the carpet to dry in this manner overnight.

    • 10

Remove the heavy object and towels. There is no need to rinse the cleaning solution from the carpet.

Remove Coffee and Tea Stains with Beer

    • 11

Pour a few drops of beer on the stain.

    • 12

Rub the beer into the fibers of the nylon carpet using a clean cloth. Add more beer until the area is lightly saturated.

    • 13

Continue rubbing the carpet gently--adding more beer if needed--until the stain is no longer visible.

    Carpet Stain Remover Spray

    • 14

Fill a clean spray bottle with one part distilled white vinegar and five parts water. Swish the bottle around to mix the contents.

    • 15

Apply the vinegar-water mixture to the stain. Allow to sit for several minutes.

    • 16

Blot the carpet stain with a dry cloth.

    • 17

Fill a second clean spray bottle with one part ammonia and five parts water.

    • 18

Apply the ammonia-water mixture to the stain. Allow to sit for several minutes.

    • 19

Blot the carpet stain with a clean, dry cloth.

    • 20

Repeat the process until the stain is gone.

    General Carpet Stain Removal

    • 21

Wet the carpet stain with a damp cloth. The area should be completely saturated with cool water but not soggy.

    • 22

Apply 1 tsp. of borax to the stain. Rub the borax into the stain with a clean cloth.

    • 23

Let the area dry completely. This may take several hours.

    • 24

Vacuum the area to remove the borax residue. Alternatively, blot the area with a mixture of equal parts cool, soapy water and white vinegar.

    • 25

Repeat the process until the stain is no longer visible.

Tips & Warnings
