DIY Plywood Storage Shelf
A plywood storage shelf makes a great addition to a garage or shed. Power tools, gardening tools, shoes and sports equipment can be organized and kept in good condition on a shelf. Building plywood shelving is a simple project that requires only basic carpentry skills. The shelf can be completed in a weekend, and a well-built shelf can last for many years. Things You'll Need
- 4-6 sheets of plywood 3 to 5 feet long and 6 to 10 inches wide.
- Measuring tape
- Saw
- Sandpaper
- Hammer
- Nails
- Stain or seal
- Paintbrush

Sand the edges of the plywood to remove any rough or splintered edges.

Mark the location of each shelf on the side pieces. Leave 8 to 10 inches between each shelf.

Place one shelf in line with the measurement on a side piece. Begin at the bottom of the shelf. Use 2-inch nails to attach the plywood pieces.

Repeat step 5 with all shelves. Place the second side of the shelf along the boards. Make sure all measurements are lined up and even before attaching the shelves with nails.

Apply water-proof paint, stain or seal to the wood. Allow it to dry for at least 24 hours.

Tips & Warnings
Wear safety glasses when working with saws. Use paint, stain and seal in ventilated areas.
