How to Create a Disk Image in Vista
If you want to create a single archived backup file of a CD, DVD or Blu-Ray disc, you can use a variety of free or shareware software to make a disc image. Disc images replicate all information on a disc so that you can then burn identical copies to blank discs.

LC ISO Creator

Download the freeware LC ISO Creator from the Lucersoft website (see Resources).

Right-click the downloaded file and click "Extract Here."

Double-click the LC ISO Creator.

Insert the disc from which you want to make a disc image.

Click "Start," then select the folder where you want to save your disc image.
ISO Recorder

Download the freeware ISO Recorder V3 or V3.1 (for Windows Vista) from the ISO Recorder website (see Resources).

Right-click the downloaded file and click "Extract Here." Double-click the installer setup file and follow the onscreen instructions. Restart your computer when prompted.

Insert the disc from which you want to make a disc image.

Double-click "My Computer," then right-click the disc from your My Computer window.

Click "Create image from CD." Designate a location for your disc image by clicking "..." next to "Directory" and then click "Finish."
ImgBurn

Download the shareware program ImgBurn from the ImgBurn website (see Resources).

Double-click the downloaded installer to begin setup, then double-click the ImgBurn icon on the desktop.

Insert the disc from which you want to make a disc image.

Click "Create image file from disc."

Click the folder icon next to "Destination" to specify an output directory for your disc image. Then click the "Make Disc Image" button (the big button in the bottom left of the application).
