Tag Blanket Directions
Tag blankets, also known as "Taggie" blankets, are small security blankets made for babies and young children. These blankets were created based on the idea that small children like to feel and rub satin edges and tags, according to Mypreciouskid.com. Taggies are designed to be both stimulating and cuddly. They are usually made with multi-colored ribbons attached to all four sides of the blanket with soft fleece in the center. Just about anyone can make a tag blanket because they only require minimum sewing skills.

1
Use scissors to cut two 13 inches by 13 inches pieces of microfleece and 16 6-inch pieces of satin ribbon. Lay out one piece of the microfleece, face up, on a flat surface.
-
2
Fold a piece of satin ribbon in half and attach the cut end to the outside edge of the microfleece, using a straight pin. Place the straight pin at least 1 inch from the edge of the microfleece.
-
-
3
Pin pieces of ribbon 2 inches apart, around all four sides of the microfleece. Set the other piece of microfleece on top of the pinned pieces of ribbon, face down. Pin the two pieces of microfleece together using a few more straight pins.
-
4
Use a sewing machine to sew the two pieces of microfleece together. Sew around all four sides, approximately ½ inch from the edge of the material. Leave a 2-inch gap open along one of the sides.
-
5
Cut off each corner of the blanket using scissors, but make sure not to cut past the stitching that holds the blanket together. Feed the blanket through the 2-inch gap to turn it inside out. Remove the straight pins as they appear.
-
6
Use a sewing machine to sew around the outer edge of the blanket one more time; this time however, sew as close to the edge as possible. Check to make sure that all edges are fastened together by carefully pulling each side of the blanket in opposite directions. Close any gaps by sewing them shut with the sewing machine.
