How to Make Personalized Note Cards & Stationery

Custom note cards and stationery are a great way to win the personal touch to your home-based business or around the office where you work. With desktop publishing software, creating personalized note cards and stationery has never been easier. Personalized note cards and stationery can make great gifts as well. With very little time and hardly any expense, you can design and create customized note cards and stationery to suit the needs of family, friends and yourself.

• Note card and stationery stock
• Printer
• Pencil
• Paper

Instructions

1. Drop a few ideas on paper. You don't need to be an artist to design personalized note cards and stationery. All you need to do at this stage is give yourself an idea about the content of your customized note cards and stationery. Consider the type of border you may want, personal information you may want to include and what type of graphics, if any. Armed with your design samples, you're ready to begin creating your personalized stationery.

2. Open a desktop publishing program. If you don't already have one you can use, there are free alternatives available online. Serif PagePlus and Scribus are free desktop publishing programs that include templates for personal note cards and stationery. Go to the "File" menu, and create a new template. Select the stationary template that most closely resembles the design you'd like to create. Click the design to open it for editing.

3. Edit the stationery or note card template to fit your design. First, select the text in the template, and press the delete key on your keyboard to remove it. Type in your own text. This may include your name, address, phone number and email address. Add any additional text you'd like to customize the stationery. If you want to change the font style, use the drop-down font menu.

4. Insert custom graphics and borders on your stationery. Go to the "Insert" menu, and choose the "Picture" option. Browse to the location on your computer where the images are you wish to add to your customized stationery. Be sure that picture you want to add to your customized stationery fits. If not, you will have to size it in graphics editing software first. Choose a border for your note cards and stationery from the "Insert" menu and the borders option.

5. Purchase note card and stationery stock at just about any office supply store. This stock comes in a variety of colors and textures. Print your customized note cards and stationery on your choice of stock.
