How to Get Adobe Reader to Run From a CD
Adobe Reader is a portable document format (PDF) reading program that is produced by Adobe Systems. Available as a free download, Reader allows users to open, view and sometimes edit PDF documents. PDF files may be distributed through a variety of sources, such as CDs. If the PDF documents are saved to a CD, you can adjust your computer settings to automatically open Reader when the CD is inserted into the drive. You can get Adobe Reader to run from a CD by following a few steps.

Download Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader is available as a free download from the Adobe Systems web site listed in the Resources section.

Click the Microsoft "Start" button and select the "Control Panel" option. Type "autoplay" in the search box of the "Control Panel" dialogue window. While the "AutoPlay" link should automatically appear as a search result in the dialogue window, you may press the "search" button (represented by a small magnifying glass icon) to run the search.

Locate the "CD" or "Optical Drive" option under the "Media" section of the "AutoPlay" window. Depending on the type of computer you have, it may be listed in a number of ways. Highlight the option that specifies either the "optical" or "CD/DVD" drive for your computer.

Select the Adobe Reader option for the optical drive. Use the drop down menu to the right of the optical drive listing to select "Launch Adobe Reader" option. Click the "Save" button to complete the process of getting Adobe Reader to run from a CD.
