Instructions

    • 1

Open Photoshop, click “File” and click “Open.” Choose a photo and double-click the file name so it appears in the Photoshop workspace. Click the "Magnifier" tool on the "Tools" palette on the left side of the screen and zoom in on the person's top lip.

    • 2

Click the “Lasso” tool on the “Tools” palette. Draw an outline around the person’s top lip, staying within just the upper lip area and avoiding teeth or skin. If you grab something else in your outline, pull down the "Edit" menu and click "Undo Lasso," then start again. When you see the blinking dotted lines, right-click inside the area and select “Layer via Copy.”

    • 3

Pull down the “Image” menu, click “Adjustments” and select “Hue/Saturation.” Move the “Hue” slider bar to the left to turn the lip color more pink or right to change the shade of the lip gloss color to a punk-looking neon yellow, green or blue. Move the “Saturation” slider bar to the right to add a bright shine.

    • 4

Jot down the numbers in the “Hue” and “Saturation” boxes and click “OK.”

    • 5

Double-click the Layer 1 layer in the "Layers" palette on the right side of the screen. When the "Layer Style" menu comes up, check the "Inner Glow" box and click "OK" to ad more shine to the lip gloss. Click on the “Background” layer in the "Layers" palette to give it focus.

    • 6

Repeat the process on the lower lip, except in "Hue/Saturation," type the numbers you wrote down in the corresponding boxes and click “OK.” This ensures the lip gloss colors match exactly. Double-click the Layer 2 line on the "Layers" palette and repeat the "Inner Glow" process to give the lip a glossy shine.
