How to Teach Preschool to a Three Year Old at Home

Homeschooling a three-year-old preschooler introduces him to the building blocks upon which you will build a complete education. • Kitchen tongs
• Cotton balls
• Lace-up boards

Instructions

1. Promote physical development in your three-year-old preschooler. Teaching preschoolers occurs throughout your child's waking hours. Help her to develop physically by teaching her how to dress herself and give her opportunities to play with other children. Physical development includes physical autonomy and social and emotional development, which lead to increased self-esteem and academic achievement.

   Blocks teach colors, shapes and letters.

   Enhance your three-year-old's cognitive development with interactive and creative activities. Incorporate shapes, colors, tactile activities and movement into your preschool curriculum. For example, use colorful alphabet blocks to teach letters and colors. Draw pictures from a fairy tale to promote your child's ability to make connections and stretch her mental boundaries.

3. 

   Cotton balls make everday objects opportunities to learn.

   Use games to teach your three-year-old fine motor skills. Place two bowls on a low table. Fill one bowl with cotton balls. Give your child a set of tongs, showing her how to use them by picking up a cotton ball and placing it in the empty bowl. Ask your child to move the remaining cotton balls from one bowl into the other.

4. 

   Three-year-olds can learn to tie their shoes.

   Teach your preschooler how to tie his shoes. Punch holes in a piece of stiff cardboard in the pattern shoe string hole. Lace a shoe string through the holes. Show your child several times what you are doing. Give her the board and the lace to practice.
