How to Refill Lighter Liquid

Zippo style lighters use liquid lighter fluid.

If you have a lighter that uses liquid lighter fluid, and the lighter fluid dries up or runs out then you will need to refill the liquid lighter fluid. Most lighters that take liquid lighter fluid are Zippo lighters, or lighters that are the Zippo style. You can easily refill the lighter fluid liquid in your lighter by following these steps.

Instructions

1. Open the lighter case. The lighter case has a hinged top, you must open the top to refill the lighter fluid liquid.

2. Remove the body of the lighter from the case. The lighter's body can be removed from the case by pulling the wind guard portion of the lighter body.

3. Lift the felt strip at the bottom of the lighter body. At the bottom of the lighter body is a felt strip that you must lift to expose a cotton-like substance inside the lighter body.

4. Pour liquid lighter fluid into the cotton-like substance. Holding the lighter upside-down, pour lighter fluid into the cotton-like substance in the lighter's body. Do not use any substance other than lighter fluid, and do not over-fill the lighter. Once the substance looks wet, but not over-saturated, the lighter is full, and you can put the felt strip back down.

5. Place the lighter body back into the lighter case. Once you have filled the lighter with liquid, you can reinsert the lighter body into the lighter case and use it.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure that your hands do not contain any lighter fluid on them when you light the lighter after re-filling it.
