How to Curl Lashes With a Spoon
Curling eyelashes with a spoon is a great beauty trick for those who want long, defined lashes but don't want the overly-defined look that results from using a metal or plastic eyelash curler. Curlers are often difficult to manage; moreover, they can be harsh to lashes, causing them to break or fall out. Using a spoon instead, follow a few easy steps and get to-die-for lashes in minutes without risking any serious lash damage. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Clean eyelashes with a damp cloth or makeup remover towelette. The dampness will help the lash keep the curl.
-
2
Apply a light talcum or baby powder over your closed eyes and lashes. This will absorb any extra dampness and prevent lashes from sticking together.

3
Take a clean spoon--a teaspoon or tablespoon will work equally well--and run it under warm water to heat it. Dry it off with a towel. A blow-dryer will also work to heat the spoon. Before you begin curling, however, ensure that the spoon is still slightly warm to the touch but not so hot as to burn your skin.

4
Grab the spoon by the handle, holding the concave-side facing outward. Place the edge of the spoon at the base of your top lashes, and using your thumb, press the lashes against the curved side of the spoon.
-
5
Slowly drag the spoon upward and against your lashes until the spoon hits the end of the lash. Move very slowly, letting your thumb and the spoon linger against the lash for a few seconds as you curl. Curl upward, bringing the lashes back toward your face.
-
6
Repeat step 5 with your bottom lashes if you like, only be sure to curl downward along with your lash's natural curl instead of upward.
-
7
Immediately apply one to two coats of mascara as desired, to help hold the curl in place. Use an eyelash or mascara comb after to separate individual lashes, if you find that they are sticking together.

Tips & Warnings
Many women apply mascara before curling. This is a common mistake, as mascara is very sticky and can cause lashes to clump or break if too much pressure is applied.
