How to Purify Salt Water Into Regular Water
Salt water comes from seawater sources and it is important to desalinize and purify the salt water into drinkable form. Desalination is the removal of salts and minerals from seawater, which purifies the water. It is also known as reverse osmosis, which is one of the water purification processes that turns salt water from the ocean into water free from ions and dissolved organic molecules. The elimination of salt can be achieved by using a thermal desalination technique, which is the heating of the water until the boiling point is reached, allowing it to vaporize as a form of condensation.

1
Place the large stock pot on the stove and set an empty, clean glass cup in the center of the pot. Hold the rim of glass cup in the center of the pot while using the pitcher to pour salt water in the pot as it reaches the rim of glass cup without pouring it in the glass cup. This will prevent the glass cup from moving. Do not overfill the pot with salt water or pour salt water in the glass. Leave some room for it to boil.

2
Turn the stove on to low to slowly boil. Put the stock pot's cover upside down where its handle reaches above the center of the glass cup.

3
Wait 20 to 30 minutes for it to slowly boil. Waiting period may vary on different stove appliances. Ensure the boiling is not aggressive because the salt water will splash in the glass cup. Use your oven mittens to place a thermometer in the pot by moving the cover slightly outward, which allows steam to come out. Make sure the temperature is at its boiling point of 212 F (100 C).
-
4
Observe any steam coming from the stock pot and you will see water droplets fall in the glass cup if you have a glass pot cover.
-
5
Wait for 45 minutes to an hour until the stock pot and glass cup are cooled down before use since they are very hot. Let the water cool in the glass cup. Remove the glass cup containing the purified water, and pour into a clean glass jug or pitcher.
