How to Make 3D Glasses for Movies

Make 3D movie glasses from regular glasses.

Movies first appeared in North America in the late 19th century. At that time, these simple, two-dimensional pictures were enough to fascinate their viewers. Later, when simple movies began to lose their charm, 3D movies and glasses came on the scene. While watching 3D movies, viewers don special glasses to make the specially treated effects look as if they projected out toward the audience. Glasses for these movies are fairly simple to make at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Unscrew the frames of your costume glasses just enough to pop out the lenses. Place the right lens on the red acetate sheet and the left lens on the blue sheet.

    • 2

Slide your fingers under the blue acetate sheet, pressing it flush against the concave underside of the lens. Trace around the lens with your permanent marker, keeping the lines as even as possible. Repeat with the red acetate sheet.

    • 3

Cut out the acetate pieces, keeping the edges smooth and even and cutting on the inside of your lines. Spray the inside of each lens with a little spray adhesive and press the appropriate piece of acetate to the appropriate lens.

    • 4

Let the glue set for about an hour. Slip the lenses back into place and screw the frames down tight. Put on your glasses and enjoy some 3D movies.
