How to Run a Space Heater in an RV

How to Run a Space Heater in an RV thumbnail
Heat your RV with a portable space heater.

While driving an RV, you may turn on the heat element of the vehicle to heat the interior. This does not reduce the amount of gas in your tank (as the heat is taken off of the engine block). While you are parked, however, it is not a good idea to have the heat running, as it wears down the battery. This makes it a good idea to hook up a space heater to the interior of the RV.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your RV completely. You want the vehicle off while using the portable space heater unit.

    • 2

Plug the portable space heater into one of the electrical outlets inside the RV. The RV has its own electrical source, so it is possible to hook up a few electronic devices at the same time.

    • 3

Place the space heater in the middle of the RV, away from any walls, clothing or furniture in the vehicle.

    • 4

Close the windows of the RV if you want to maintain the heat inside the vehicle. Most RVs are not completely airtight, so the heat easily escapes.
