How to Donate Uniforms
Donating uniforms to a youth sports organization is an effective way to make a difference in your community. Often times, children forego participating in community sports because parents aren't able to afford it. Having to deal with one less expense may give a child a chance play a sport. An added benefit to making your donation is that most youth sports organizations are non-profit. This means your donation will not only help the financially disadvantaged but will also be tax deductible.

1
Find a youth sports organization in your area. If you don't already know of one, contact your local community youth center and ask about the youth activities. They should be able to point you in the direction of a youth organization such as a soccer team, football team, cheerleading team, etc. These kind of organizations are always looking for donations to help defray the participation costs for children.

2
Obtain the contact information for the group to which you are interested in donating. Get the phone number of the president or the person in charge. You may also want to get the email address and fax number in case you aren't able to get through with just the phone number.

Contact the organization and let them know that you are interested in making a uniform donation. You will need to speak with the president of the league or whoever is in charge in order to get this set up. Sometimes the head person will refer you to someone else, such as a uniform coordinator or volunteer parent, to handle the donation specifics.

Have the sports organization order the uniforms, and you pay the bill once the order comes in. Doing this will avoid you having to deal with the hassle of collecting sizes and quantities. This is especially helpful if you are making a donation to an organization that has a lot of participants or if the uniform has a lot of pieces that need to be ordered.
