How to Protect a Table With Plexiglas

Plexiglass can be used to protect any kind of table.

Tabletops can take quite a beating in any household. Aside from food spills and scratches caused by dishes and silverware, the table can also be the site of school projects, pet training and numerous other endeavors. While kids and pets can increase the wear and tear a table receives, a table covering can increase the lifespan for anyone's table. Regular glass can be shattered easily and the shards can be dangerous but Plexiglas is more durable and can easily protect your table for years to come.

Instructions

1. Measure the dimensions of your table with a tape measure. You'll need to know the exact length and width of the table top in addition to its shape.

2. Purchase a sheet of thin Plexiglas at a hardware store. You can have them cut the sheet to the measurements you took off the table or you can do it yourself with a circular saw.

3. Lay the cut Plexiglas sheet down over the table top and then place any table ornaments on top of it. The surface of the table is protected from damage as long as the Plexiglas remains on top of it.

Tips & Warnings

• Always wear eye protection if you try cutting Plexiglas yourself.
