Sisterlocks is a trademarked alternative method for locking hair---similar to dreadlocks but with more versatility and style options due to the thinner size of the locks. The re-tightening of 300 to over 600 locks (depending on the thickness of hair) will need to be done for every inch of growth to keep a neat appearance until and if your texture of hair will begin to lock on it's own. This can be every month or every other month depending on your growth rate and take up 4 to 6 hours to complete. Re-tightening your Sisterlocks involves a four-point clockwise method of interlocking through the north, east, south then west.
Divide your Sisterlocks into four sections---two at the top and two at the back. Secure the sections with your ponytail holders to hold them in place. In preparation to re-tighten hundreds of your Sisterlocks, having them grouped into sections as you go is important to keep your place as you re-tighten each one.

Pull one Sisterlock starting at the hairline from either side of your head through the loop of the nappyloc tool to about halfway along the Sisterlock. Hold the placement of your hair on the tool with your finger. With your other hand, split open the area of hair at the scalp down the middle and pull the nappyloc tool through the top of the area pulling your Sisterlock through it as well. You have completed the north point.

Split the area of hair near the scalp again, but this time through the side. Pull the nappyloc tool and looped Sisterlock through the east point (think 3 o'clock) and tighten.

Split the area of hair near the scalp down the middle again. Pull the nappyloc tool and looped Sisterlock through the bottom (south point) and tighten.

Split the area of hair near the scalp through the side. Pull the nappyloc tool and looped Sisterlock through the west point (think 9 o'clock) and tighten. You have completed the tightening process for one inch of growth on your Sisterlock.

Proceed to the next Sisterlock and repeat the process of looping it into the nappyloc tool and interlocking through the north, east, south then west points. Work each section leaving out the re-tightened Sisterlocks as you go until you have completed each banded section of hair.
