Operate the tilt function on venetian blinds to open and close the slats.

Venetian blinds can cover almost any type of window in a home. Whether you have a standard window that allows you to purchase ready-made venetian blinds or an unusual window that necessitates custom-made blinds, adding blinds to a window gives you instant privacy. Often people cover the blinds with other window treatments to dress a window attractively. To open and close the slats, you must know how to tilt venetian blinds. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the tilt wand to the tilt rod at the top of the venetian blinds, if necessary. The typical place for the tilt rod is in the upper left corner of the blinds. Find the clip in the tilt rod and insert it through the hole on the end of the tilt wand. Allow the wand to hang straight down along the left edge of the blinds.

    • 2

Grasp the tilt wand and rotate it to the left to tilt the slats down.

    • 3

Rotate the tilt wand to the right to tilt the slats up.

    • 4

Reverse whatever direction you were rotating the tilt wand to make the slats horizontal, allowing you to see through the window when the blinds extend all the way down.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some venetian blinds use tilt cords instead of a tilt wand. To tilt venetian blinds with tilt cords, pull on either cord to tilt the slats up or down.

  • Tilting the slats when the blinds are not down and covering the entire window may damage the blinds.

  • Tilt the slats into a horizontal position before you pull the blinds up with the cords to avoid damaging the blinds.
