1
Incorporate more protein into your diet. All hair is made of protein; if you do not have enough protein in your diet, hair growth may slow, or the hair you have may be weak and unhealthy. Protein can be found not only in meat, but in beans, legumes, soy, dairy products, and eggs. A proper diet with plenty of protein can improve the growth rate of black hair.

Take a supplement with vitamins E, C, A, B3, B6, B12, and biotin; or eat foods such as fruits and leafy green vegetables to get your supply of vitamins. A healthy dose of these vitamins can improve your hair's overall health, strength, and texture by increasing blood circulation to the scalp. This will add body and shine to black hair as well.

Drink more water. Water helps remove chemicals, toxins, and impurities from the body. Since any of these can cause imbalances in hormones and enzymes, black hair growth can be slowed. Water is used by the body to move nutrients where they are needed; drinking plenty of water will ensure the proper amount of nutrients are distributed to hair, improving its overall health.

Massage the scalp to improve circulation, which could aid in faster growth of black hair. Using just your fingertips, apply light or firm pressure--whichever you prefer--to the hairline on both sides of the forehead. Move fingertips in a circular motion for 1 to 2 minutes. Move fingers back, continuing the circular motion over the top, the sides, and the back of your head until you have massaged the entire scalp.

Tips & Warnings
Essential oils--such as lavendar, coconut or rosemary--can be both pleasurable and beneficial to hair health when used as massage oils.
Avoid products that dry hair--such as those with alcohol as an ingredient--and heated styling appliances; damaged hair breaks more easily and requires more frequent hair cuts to remove split ends, slowing the pace of hair growth.
