1
Buy the hair color(s) that you wish to color your hair extensions with. It is recommended to choose a deposit-only hair color, instead of attempting to lighten the existing color of your hair extensions. Deposit-only hair colors are semi-permanent hair colors, or hair color that is darker than the existing color of your hair extensions.
-
2
Hold your hair extensions beside the color swatches. The swatches are the loops of colored hair accompanying each different hair color and are usually situated beneath the boxes. Choose the hair color(s) you prefer, that are either brighter or darker in color than your hair extensions.

3
Perform a strand test. When at home with your hair color, mix the hair color(s) according to the directions and apply the hair color to a small, inconspicuous section of your hair extensions. An underlying section, close to your head is best.
-
4
Wait the recommended time for the color to develop. When the time has elapsed, rinse the color from the section and blow dry the section. Examine the results and, if they are to your liking, you can proceed with coloring all your hair extensions.
-
5
Apply the remaining hair color(s) to your hair extensions. Ensure all of the extensions are fully and evenly coated with the hair color(s). Wait for the recommended time for the hair color to develop.
-
6
When the time has elapsed, rinse all the color from your hair extensions. Apply a conditioner and allow that to sit on your extensions for two minutes. Rinse out the hair conditioner.
-
7
Blow dry your hair extensions to reveal the results.

Tips & Warnings
To create more vibrant red colors on your hair extensions, mix a copper-based red hair color with a violet-based, often referred to as burgundy, hair color. Mix them prior to application, in one bottle, and apply as one hair color.
Wear old clothing and gloves when applying hair color to avoid ruining your clothes or staining your hands during application.
Do not use bleach on your hair extensions. This can permanently damage your hair extensions.
