How to Clean Windows with Commercial Equipment
Professional window cleaners work with many of same cleaning tools and equipment that others do. Use the same techniques that professional commercial window cleaning companies employ to give your windows a thorough cleaning, inside and out. It is also possible to use a commercial or household steam cleaner to supplement and expedite the window cleaning job. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Spray bottle
- Ammonia
- Dish washing soap
- Soft scrub brush
- Vacuum
- Vinegar (optional)
- Utility window scraper
- Steam cleaner
- Micro-fiber cloths

Remove the screens from the window and use a spray bottle to saturate them with a solution of one part ammonia and three parts water with a few drops of dish washing soap added. Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes then scrub the screens gently with a soft scrub brush. Rinse the screens with fresh water.

Remove all loose debris and dust from around the windows using the hose attachment on a dry vacuum cleaner.

Lubricate any areas with dried paint or other hardened gunk with soapy water. Use a utility glass scraper to remove the hardened matter on the glass. If necessary, soften stuck-on paint beforehand by saturating it with white vinegar.

Affix the squeegee attachment to the steam cleaner and turn on the steam cleaner. Cover the head of the squeegee with a micro-fiber cloth. Steam-clean the window on both sides working in long, slow downward strokes. Wipe any residual moisture from the glass by hand with a micro-fiber cloth.

Affix the detail brush attachment to the steam cleaner and cover the head with a micro-fiber cloth. Use it to clean out the window tracks and the framework on both sides. Wipe any residual moisture or loosened dirt from the tracks and framework by hand with a micro-fiber cloth.
