Glass container
Assorted fabric swatches (medium to lightweight)
Foam brush, 1-inch wide

Create pretty fabric-covered glass containers or apply fabric to the back of clear plates with Mod Podge. Mod Podge is an all-purpose adhesive, sealer and finish (glossy or matte). It's the brand name for a milky-colored medium that dries clear, manufactured by the Plaid Company. Available at craft shops in different sizes, Mod Podge is fast-drying and is excellent for a variety of decoupage projects such as decorating glass with bits of fabric. Children and adults can use it to make handmade gifts for holidays or special occasions.
Step 1
Clean the area of the glass that will be covered with fabric and Mod Podge thoroughly. Use rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove any dust.

Step 2
Choose and assemble the fabric pieces that will be used for this project by color or theme. Make sure you have enough to cover the glass piece. Cut large pieces of fabric into smaller ones to have a variety of swatches to apply and to add interest.
Step 3
Lay paper towels on the work table. Use the foam brush to apply a generous layer of Mod Podge on an area of the glass piece to cover with fabric. Press a fabric piece on the Mod Podge and press it hard with a sponge to make it stick well to the Mod Podge.
Step 4
Add 3 or 4 more fabric pieces, laying them side by side or slightly overlapping and pressing hard. Apply more Mod Podge on top of the fabric pieces pressed on the glass, covering well. Move on to the next area of the glass piece, repeating the application of Mod Podge and fabric pieces until the glass is covered as desired.
Step 5
As the Mod Podge and fabric pieces begin to dry, press the fabric pieces again with the sponge to make sure there are no air bubbles. When the glass piece is dry, apply one more coat of Mod Podge over the fabric.
Tip
Keep a box handy to collect bits and pieces of fabric swatches left over from other projects to use for this type of decoupage craft.
Cut large images from fabric to apply onto glass for added interest.
Use a little rubbing alcohol to remove any Mod Podge that has gotten on the glass by accident. Remove dried Mod Podge from the glass using nail polish remover (acetone).
Warning
If a child is participating in this craft, an adult should clean the glass with rubbing alcohol for safety reasons.
