How to Add Human Hair Extensions
If you wish your hair was longer and more voluminous, human hair extensions may be the answer. Hair extensions can be found in most beauty-supply stores. Although there are many ways to apply hair extensions, two of the quickest methods are clip-ins and latex bond. Clip-in hair extensions are wefts, or small pieces, of hair that attach to the underside of your natural hair with a small, barrette-like clip. One of the positive elements of clip-ins is that they cause minimal damage to your hair and they can be taken out whenever you want. Latex bond extensions are wefts of hair that are glued to the natural hair. They are inexpensive and easy to apply. Does this Spark an idea?

Clip-In Extensions
-
1
Use the tail end of the comb to make a straight, horizontal part from mid-ear to mid-ear. Clip away the remaining hair above the part.
-
2
Pull the loose hair below the part outward and firmly with one hand. Position the comb about 1 to 2 inches from the root.
-
-
3
Comb briskly towards the root, keeping within 1 to 2 inches from the scalp. This will tease the root slightly, which will keep the clip-ins in place. Repeat steps 2 and 3 along the entire horizontal part.
-
4
Spray the teased area lightly with hair spray. Snap the clips on the clip-in hair extensions open.
-
5
Hold the clip of the clip-in extensions slightly above the part. Slide the teeth of the clip down into the teased area so that the top of the clip lies below the horizontal part. Snap the clip closed. Repeat this step along the entire horizontal part.
-
6
Create another horizontal part about 1 to 2 inches above the first part, clipping away the remaining hair. Repeat steps 2 through 5 along the entire part. Continue making horizontal parts and clipping in the extensions up to your temples.
Latex Bond Extension
-
7
Make a straight, horizontal part from mid-ear to mid-ear with the tail end of the comb. Clip the remaining hair above the part out of the way.
-
8
Cut a weft of 100 percent human hair about half the size of the part. Make sure to cut straight through the track and avoid cutting through the actual hair.
-
9
Squeeze a thin line of latex bond glue along the rough side of the track. Let the glue sit for about 15 seconds.
-
10
Place the track along the part about 1/8 inch from the root of your natural hair. Press the track gently with your fingers and hold it in place for about 30 seconds.
-
11
Create another horizontal part about 1/2 inch above the first part and repeat steps 2 through 4 until you reach to below the crown of your head. Do not glue the extensions past the edge of your ears. Extensions placed any higher will show through your natural hair.
-
12
Make a horizontal part about 1/2 inch above your left ear. Cut a weft of hair the same length as the part and repeat steps 3 and 4 until you reach your temple. Repeat the process for above your right ear.

Tips & Warnings

To remove clip-in extensions, unsnap the clips and slide the extensions out. Wash your hair afterward to avoid damage.
