How to Make a Guitar Diploma
A guitar diploma can be a boost to your guitar students' confidence. If you give lessons, you may want to consider creating a guitar diploma to show the level of achievement of your students. You can create a guitar diploma for your students using a desktop publishing program or a word processor and a simple template. Allowing your students to receive a diploma for their achievements can lend a sense of authenticity to their accomplishments.

Open a desktop publishing program or a word processor. Whatever you have on your computer will do. You can download Serif PagePlus or Scribus, use Word, or even download OpenOffice at no charge. All of these programs have templates on which you can base your guitar diploma.

Select "New" from the "File" menu, choose the templates option, and browse the templates for a design that most closely matches the look you want for your guitar diploma. You will typically want to search the "Awards and Certificates" category. Click the template you want to use to open it for editing. Don't worry if the template is a certificate. This can be customized to look like a diploma and is only your starting point.

Make changes to customize the certificate to suit your diploma design. To change the font style, select the words you want to change, go to the drop-down font menu, and select the font in which you want the words to appear. To customize the actual content of the diploma, select the words from the template and delete them, then type in your own words. A typical diploma may read:
This is to certify that [student's name] has participated in [guitar course] and has graduated with honors on [date of course completion].
Leave a place at the bottom of the diploma for your signature.

Select the images in the template and delete them, then use the "Insert" menu and browse for an image of a guitar to place on the diploma. Click the image to insert it, then click on the image and hold your mouse down to drag the image where you want it to appear on the diploma. Use a small image that won't take away from the text and place it centered, between the diploma text and your signature line. You can also insert a border using the insert menu. Choose one of the fancy borders to give your diploma a professional look.

Print the diploma on custom paper, which you can purchase at an office supply store. Select a paper with a parchment texture or something suitable for a quality diploma, then sign the diploma, roll it up, and tie it with a silk ribbon for presentation.
