Put GPS navigation on your Windows Pocket PC.

TomTom Navigator is a software program designed for use on Windows-based mobile devices such as the Pocket PC. Once this program is installed, you can use preloaded maps to determine routes to locations or, if your device has GPS or Wi-Fi capabilities, you can get directions in real time. Pocket PCs have a program called ActiveSync that lets the device "sync" up with certain programs on a computer when connected. Through this connect, the TomTom maps are updated and downloaded to the device.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the Pocket PC to your computer with the device's included USB cable. Wait for the computer to launch the device's ActiveSync software.

    • 2

Insert the TomTom installation CD into your computer's CD drive. Double-click on the CD icon on your desktop or click "Start" followed by "Run." Select the CD drive (usually D:/ or E:/) and press "Enter."

    • 3

Double-click on the "Install.exe" file within the CD window that opens if the program does not automatically launch. Follow through the TomTom installation instructions.

    • 4

Check the screen of your Pocket PC during the process. At one point, a pop-up appears asking you to confirm the installation. Tap "OK" or "Yes" on the device's screen and wait for the installation process to complete.

Connect the device to the computer from time to time and click "Start" followed by "All Programs" and "TomTom." Click on "Navigator" and select the option to "update" or "download maps." Disconnect the device when the updating is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wait a few minutes after connecting your Pocket PC to begin the installation. This gives ActiveSync a chance to update the device's software and sync your contacts and calendars before installing new software.

  • Do not disconnect or turn off the Pocket PC during the installation process. Only disconnect the device when prompted to do so on-screen.
