Car kit mode on most US LG phones adds text to the front screen of the phone, can change ringer and vibrate settings, and can even change brightness settings on the phone. Sometimes this setting can become stuck on and is hard to turn off. However, with the correct steps, even a phone stuck in car kit mode can be repaired.

Instructions

    • 1

Power off the phone by holding the power button for several seconds. When you see the phone cycling to shut off, remove your finger from the button.

    • 2

Gently open the battery case and remove the battery from the phone.

    • 3

Count slowly to 15 and replace the battery.

    • 4

Click the power button to boot up the phone.

    • 5

Open the main menu on your phone and navigate to the "Settings" window.

    • 6

Scroll down in the options and click on "Headset Mode"

    • 7

Disable the "Turbo Button" option, "Earpiece" option and the "Car Kit Mode" option. Having either of these three enabled can re-enable the others.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can't get the battery cover on your phone open, consult the phone's included manual.

  • Only change settings that you understanding. Altering some system settings can prevent your phone from working correctly.
