How to Remove Pitch & Resin From Circular Saw Blades
Circular saw blades can become dull and unusable if not cared for properly over a long period of time. After awhile, resin can build up on circular saw blades. Resin is the sticky substance found inside wood, and excessive buildup can ruin a perfectly good circular saw while wasting a lot of your money in the process. In order to prevent this, from time to time you will need to remove this resin, as well as pitch, from your circular saw blades. Fortunately, this process is simple and straightforward and can be accomplished with materials found at your home improvement store. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Mix together a solution of one part resin remover to four parts water in the plastic bin. Resin removers are special compounds made to remove sticky pitch and resin, and you can ask a store representative which type would be best for your particular brand of circular saw. The plastic bin must be big enough for the circular saw to lie flat.

2
Scrub the circular saw with the soft bristle brush and soap. This will get off the first layers of resin and pitch. Once you have removed as much as you can by hand, submerge the saw in the plastic bin and solution, and let it sit for 30 minutes.

3
Take the blade out of the bin after 30 minutes. If all the resin and pitch has not come off, put the saw back in the solution and check it every five minutes.

4
Wipe the saw dry with the rag once it is completely clean.
