Curling Braids With Flexie Rods
-
1
Apply a leave-in conditioner before curling hair. Shampoo and condition braids as usual. Apply a leave-in conditioner to hair and follow with an application of coconut oil to keep hair extra moisturized. Use grapeseed oil if desired for additional shine.
-
2
Take two or three braids and wrap them around a flexi rod. Flexi rods are bendable straight foam curlers that you can easily wrap your hair around. Fold flexi rod in half to keep curled braids in place while hair dries.
-
-
3
Repeat Step 2 until all of hair has been curled using the flexi rods. Allow to set for up to 40 minutes, or whenever hair has completely dried. Once hair is dry, take the flexi rods out and separate curls. Style as desired.
Curling Braids With A Pencil And Hot Water
-
4
Bring water to a boil in a pot on the stove. Measure one to two cups of water and pour into a pot on your stove. Bring water to a boil. Take the pot off the stove and pour some of the water into a mug.
-
5
Use a regular-size pencil to wrap braids around. Take three braids and wrap them around a pencil taking care to wrap them around the entire length of the pencil. Stick the braid-wrapped pencil into the mug of boiling water and leave in for about ten seconds.
-
6
Mugs retain heat and won't crack when filled with boiling water. Remove the braid-wrapped pencil from the mug and shake out. Squeeze any excess water out with a clean towel and carefully slide the pencil out. Braids will be in a tight curl when they come out, which can be left as such until all of braids are finished. The tight curls will fall naturally over time.
-
7
Repeat process until all braids are curled. The water in the mug should remain hot for about three to four sections of braids, then must be reheated for optimal curl production. Once all braids are curled, wait for hair to dry, and style as desired.
