How to Make a Toga for an American Girl Doll
American Girl dolls are popular in the United States and around the world. You can purchase a doll that has the same color skin, eyes and hair as you do and even purchase books about her. Other American Girl doll characters have been featured in books and movies and have a following all their own. Part of the fun of having this type of doll is being able to dress alike. If you and your favorite doll decide to attend a costume or Greek toga party, it is easy to make a toga for her to wear.
Things You'll Need
- White tank top or t-shirt for the doll
- White hand towel or other white cloth (approximately 21 by 15 inches)
- Colorful ribbon
- Small safety pins
Instructions

1
Dress your American Girl doll in a white tank top or a white t-shirt. Togas tend to slip and slide so this will keep her covered.
-
2
Hold the hand towel or cloth horizontally in front of the doll.
-
-
3
Wrap the hand towel or cloth around her waist one time.
-
4
Place a safety pin where the edges meet, pinning it on one side of the waist.
-
5
Throw the rest of the cloth over one shoulder of the American Girl doll.
-
6
Place another safety pin in the waist area in the back to hold her toga in place.
-
7
Wrap a colorful ribbon around her waist and tie it in the back to give the outfit a bit of color. Make sure you use the same color ribbon on your own toga.

You can make your own toga in the same manner. Just use a larger piece of white cloth such as a bed sheet.
