Using Household Products to Clean a Wading Pool

A wading pool is not deep.

A wading pool is a small hard or inflatable plastic pool often used by small children. Wading pools are generally very shallow, no more than 2 feet deep. Wading pools are easy to set up, fill, drain and care for. It is important to properly clean a wading pool to ensure algae and mildew does not form and the pool water remains sanitary. Clean your wading pool with household products.

Things You'll Need

• Gloves
• Bleach
• Sponge
• Hose
• 1/2 cup borax
• Cleaning brush
• 1 cup baking soda

Instructions

Cleaning an Empty Wading Pool

1. Fill a bucket with hot water and 1 cup of bleach per gallon of water.

2. Put on gloves. Dip a sponge in the bleach solution and scrub the inside and outside of the pool.

3. Use a hose to rinse the pool.

Cleaning a Full Wading Pool

1. Place 1/4 cup of borax on a paper plate. Dip a cleaning brush in water, and then dip the brush in the borax.

2. Place the brush in the water, and scrub the walls of the wading pool. Clean the pools walls and bottom in this manner after the last use of the day to keep algae and slime from forming.

3. Add 1 cup of baking soda to the pool water. Allow the baking soda to remain in the water overnight.
