Listen to high-definition audio on your Windows computer.

Windows computers use an audio architecture high-definition audio bus driver. The function of this driver is to give the sound card the ability to detect and play high-definition audio obtained either from the Internet or a connected HD audio source (such as an HDTV or Blu-ray player). However, before it is possible to play the audio you must pre-load the driver onto the computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Internet browser and navigate to the Microsoft download page for the HD bus driver (see Resources).

    • 2

Check off the operating system you are running, then fill in your email address, type in the passcode provided on the page and select "Request Hotfix."

    • 3

Navigate to your email address and open the message received from Microsoft. Select the download link and the high-definition audio bus driver downloads directly, and automatically, to your computer.

    • 4

Double-click the downloaded file to launch the installation wizard. Follow the short series of prompts to complete the driver installation.
