A working speaker on your Razr.

The Motorola Razr is a cellular flip-phone known primarily for its ultra-thin design. Although this isn't the most substantial phone in the world, its components are top-of-the-line, including its speaker. If your Razr's speaker has recently become damaged or is broken, you must fix it before the phone can be used. But replacing the Razr's speaker is a project you can perform yourself, without the help of a service technician.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your Razr, then turn it backside-up. Press the battery latch on the top of the phone down and slide the back battery cover off. Then remove the battery.

    • 2

Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws on either corner of the bottom of the battery compartment. These screws secure the logic board, located just under the battery compartment.

    • 3

Use your fingers to gently pry the logic board off of the back of the Razr. Turn it over to expose the green circuit board, the antenna and the speaker.

    • 4

Use the tip of your screwdriver to pop the two rubber pads off of either side of the plastic frame housing the green circuit board. Use the tip of your screwdriver to pop the two tabs in the holes the rubber pads were covering, then pry off the plastic frame.

    • 5

Locate the circular metal speaker just under the circuit board and use your fingers to pry it out of its compartment. Then replace the speaker with a new one (available from your Motorola retailer or online) and reassemble your Razr in the reverse order you took it apart.

Tips & Warnings

  • Opening your Razr will void the warranty.
