Most cars are equipped with keyless entry.

Car remotes are popular accessories on hundreds of vehicle types around the world. They are programmed from home or by the dealership but are prone to breaking or losing their signal. You can troubleshoot a remote that is not working on your keyless entry system by first checking the batteries and then going through the resetting and redocing process. This process can be done with no previous knowledge and should have your remote ready to be used almost immediately.

      Pop open the remote case with a knife or blade and be sure that the battery is securely in place before troubleshooting further.

      Replace the battery by simply lifting out the old one and placing the new one in its spot before putting the case back together.

      Enter your car to troubleshoot the transmitter with your keyless remote and ignition key in hand.

      Turn the car on, press the lock button on your remote and turn the car back off.

      Repeat the previous step three more times and be sure to end with your car in the "On" position after the final cycle.

      Press the "Lock" button on your remote to start the programming sequence and press the button again to program the remote. Wait for the locks to cycle to indicate successful programming and remove the key from the ignition to end the programming sequence.

      Test the remote by pressing any button on it up to a dozen times until it works.
