How to Get a Bail Bonding License in Colorado
To get a bail bond agent license in the state of Colorado you must be at least 18 years of age and a citizen of the state. Your criminal record must be clear of any felonies or parole or probation due to a felony within the last 10 years. Colorado requires the successful completion of educational courses totaling a minimum of 24 hours prior to taking the bail bond licensing exam. Licensing of bail bondsmen is administered by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, Division of Insurance.

Complete the required training. There are two courses, the Bail Bond Pre-Licensure Education Course and the Bail Training Recovery Course, which must be completed prior to taking an examination for licensing. Insurance providers such as All Night Bail Bonds Bail Recovery and the American Institute of Bail and Bail Enforcement provide these courses. Class fees vary by provider.

Contact Pearson VUE, a computer-based testing provider, to schedule and complete the required Licensing Examination at 1-800-274--2616. Once you pass the examination, your scores will be good for one year. Pearson VUE accepts exam reservations by phone Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 9 PM, Saturday from 6 AM to 3 PM, and on Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM Mountain Time. Record the confirmation number you are provided by Pearson VUE as you will need it to take the exam. Those taking the exam must pay a fee.

Visit the your local law enforcement agency to submit a fingerprint card before applying for your license. The card must then be submitted to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. There may be a fee charged by your local law enforcement agency. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation also charges a fee. Send a money order for that amount along with the completed fingerprint card to the bureau.

Apply for the license online through Sircon's website, sircon.com/colorado, once you have completed your exam and submitted your fingerprint card. All aplications for licensing are applied for through Sircon. A licensing fee is charged. Renewals are also completed through the Sircon website.
