The salaries of college coaches used to be shrouded in mystery, but nowadays that information is accessible by the general public. Many college coaches are well paid, though salary varies greatly depending upon what school they work for and what sport they coach. 1
Make a list of the college coaches you want to find salaries for and make note of what sport they coach. Most universities and colleges make this information public and some media organizations compile lists of the data.
-
2
Use a database such as USA Today, Coaches Hot Seat or ESPN to look up the salaries of the coaches you're interested in. USA Today and ESPN are well-respected media outlets, and Coaches Hot Seat has downloadable copies of the actual contracts of college coaches to verify that the information they provide is true.

Download the salary information or write it down. Depending upon what sport you're looking for, you may need to use more than one database before you find the salary information you need. For instance, coaches’ salaries for sports such as basketball and football are easy to find, whereas the salaries of college golf and volleyball coaches are not.

4
Contact the athletic department of the school you want salary information for, if you cannot find it in an online database. Most schools will release this information to you, as long as you have the coach’s name, position (e.g. head coach, assistant, position coach) and sport.
