How to Tweak a DSL Modem
Tweaking a DSL modem refers to increasing its connection speed. DSL modems are faster than the devices used in dial-up and do not occupy your telephone line while you are browsing the Web. Tweak a DSL modem relatively simply in the Windows Registry.

Launch Windows Registry Editor. Click on the Start menu and select "Run..." Type "regedit" without the quotes and hit "Enter."

Browse to navigate to the following path in your Windows registry: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" - "SYSTEM" - "CurrentControlSet" - "Services" - "Tcpip" - "Parameters."

Hit "Edit" and select "New" and then "DWORD value."

Type a new name for "TcpWindowSize." Hit "Enter." Double-click on the default value that shows up.

Choose to select "decimal" for your "Base value."

Replace the default value of your TCP Windows size with "32767." Hit "OK" and close your Windows Registry Editor to end task. Restart your computer.
