You never know when you will need to present an award to a student, team member or even your own child for a spectacular accomplishment. Be prepared by designing an award certificate on your own computer. There is no need to spend extravagant amounts of money on fancy awards from the office supply store when you can so easily make one for free.

      Open a new document in any software with design capabilities like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw or Microsoft Works Word Processor.

      Select "letter" size or set the document size to 8.5 inches by 11 inches.

      Select the clip art tool to choose a design for your award certificate background. You could also use the shape tools to create your own background instead.

      Choose a large font from the text tool and type a title for the award across the top of the design. Type a specific award or use a generic term like "Award Certificate" or Certificate of Achievement."

      Use the line tool to draw a line across the center of the design that measures about 2 inches wide. Use this line to hand write a child's name later.

      Place a sheet of paper in to the paper. Consider using a light colored card stock or construction paper to give the certificate more design and flair.

      Select the printer icon at the top of the design software of press "CTRL+ P" on the keyboard to open the printing options. Choose the number of certificates you want to print and click "OK" to being printing the awards.
