How to Make a Boutique Birthday Hat
Upscale shops often sell boutique party hats for $20 or more. Make your own hat very simply for half the price or less. You can adapt the hats for a girl or a boy and use whatever fabric or decorations you want to customize the party hat. Accessorize your birthday child with a fancy hat for their special day. Things You'll Need
- Plain party hat
- Taffeta, optional
- Hot glue gun, glue sticks
- Stapler
- Fabric craft paint
- Glitter
- Feather boa
- Rhinestones
- Embellishments

Purchase a plain hat to use as the base for your boutique hat. You can either choose the color you want the hat to be, or purchase material to place over the hat.

Cut a piece of taffeta to fit the hat if you choose to cover it. Use a hot glue gun or stapler to attach the taffeta to the party hat.

Write your child's name on the front of the hat with fabric paint, or you can write the name in hot glue and place rhinestones over the glue for a sparkling name. For a boy, you may want to use colored buttons. Glue rhinestones or buttons all over the hat.

Cut a piece of feather boa and glue it to the rim of the hat. Line the rim with dabs of hot glue, and place the boa on top of it. Allow it to dry.

Glue a piece of feather boa to the top of the hat. Make it as long as you want it to be.

Decorate the rest of the hat as you like. Use stickers, glitter, paints or other embellishments to create a hat your child will love.
