Playing softball with lime green pants is certainly one way to gain attention from the opposing team and fans; however, there are ways to customize the pants to make them even more unique. Characters, such as letters and numbers, can be ironed on to the pants. These letters and/or numbers can be placed on the side of each pant leg. Slogans relating to softball, the name of the player, or the team name also can be added.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy iron on letters and numbers in a contrasting color at a craft store or online specialty apparel retailer. Purchase darker characters that will be visible against lime green, such as black or blue. If the team has two colors--for example, lime green and black--choose the other team color so they match the entire uniform. These iron on letters and numbers can be purchased for less than $2 per character, depending on the size, shape and color.

    • 2

Lay the portion of the softball pants you plan to decorate on the ironing board. The letters and numbers can be placed on either pant leg or across the rear of the pants. Position the characters evenly spaced using the ruler. The characters should be spaced at least one inch apart.

    • 3

Turn the iron to a low-heat setting. Hold the iron firmly against each individual character in three-second increments until the character has adhered to the softball pants. Continue this process until all of the characters are attached to the pants. Let the characters cool for 10 minutes before wearing the pants.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wash the pants in a regular wash cycle. Dry the pants using a low-heat setting with wrinkle care on. Most adhesive letters will last through at least 30 wash cycles.

  • Do not press the iron on the letters or numbers for more than five seconds at a time. This may cause the letters to burn.
